Performing the Khaleej
Evaporation is a state of flux; between a liquid and a gas, a state of being or unbeeing. This shifting shape is explored within the performance afternoon, in which various myths from the Arabian Gulf are brought to life and presented to the audience. New films by Moza Almatrooshi, Fatema Al Fardan and Zuhoor Al Sayegh, as well as films by Shaikha Al Ketbi and Khalid Al Mahmood will be showcased. The films focus on the questions of the exhibition: how is a myth created, when does fiction become fact, and what are the social implications of such transfers. Myths
The telling and retelling of stories permits these to take form, become altered through generations and ultimately achieve a new status of being – a myth. Selected myths from the exhibition are brought to life in a live reading by Heinz Margot and Muath Isied. The readings take place during the afternoon in Arabic and German.
