Luciano Castelli

Artist Luciano Castelli has been exploring Japan through painting and photography since the 1980s. In the exhibition he uses the The Tale of Genji as a starting point for his artistic exploration. In Japanese literary history, The Tale of Genji is considered to be the first psychological novel and is attributed to the court lady Murasaki Shikibu (c. 978 - 1014). To this day, it remains a work of great importance in Japanese culture.

Using silk painting, wooden prints, photography and music, Luciano Castelli will transfer the ancient saga to the present day. Earlier works will be juxtaposed with works created especially for this exhibition.
